How you’ll make an impact:

Serve as subject matter expert in process development of lentiviral vectors. Integrate existing and novel characterization tools to develop viral vector formulations with optimal stability and cell transduction efficiency. Deepen scientific understanding of how impurities and virus degradation impact storage stability and overall quality. 

How you’ll spend your time:

Provide technical support for fill-finish manufacturing. Implement process analysis and monitoring technologies to support production, enhance process understanding, and improve viral vector quality attributes from purification to fill-finish in early and late-stage manufacturing. Support cross-functional activities and pipeline priorities by working collaboratively with Research, Vector and Cell Process Development, as well as Analytics, Quality, and Regulatory groups. Perform hands-on laboratory-based work and write, review, or execute experimental plans, protocols, and reports, while managing experimental timelines to meet corporate goals. Position reports to Cambridge, MA office; however, telecommuting from a home office may be allowed.

Who you are and what you’ve accomplished:

 Requires a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field plus two (2) years working with analytical development, formulations (solution, lyophilization, or lipid), fill-finish, or process development. Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:

Two (2) years in each of the following:

• Conducting laboratory experiments while complying with safe work environment and good laboratory notebook practices
• Formulating hypotheses, designing and executing experiments, conducting data analysis, and drawing scientific conclusions
• Applying statistical analysis techniques including Excel or JMP
• Cell handling techniques or viral transduction
• Working with DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering), HPLC (High-performance Liquid Chromatography), flow cytometry, cell-based potency, activity assays, or other biophysical and biochemical techniques

One (1) year in each of the following:

• Pump operations
• Sterile filtration
