Duties:
- Responsible for developing parenteral drug products for clinical, commercial, and lifecycle stage assets.
- Work across the development cycle, including developability, formulation and process development for liquid, lyophilized or frozen drug product.
- Execute computational modelling as required by research goals; develop data models and databases; recommend new systems and processes to improve operations.
- Work independently and collaboratively in an innovative, agile manner both in a laboratory setting and leading projects cross functionally.
- Develop, assess, and implement innovative technologies along with developing platforms, aligned with the department's long-range technology development plans.
- Independently design and execute studies supporting formulation and process development or optimization of parenteral drug product.
- Lead projects and technology initiatives with a sound technical understanding of protein structure chemistry and stability attributes.
- Work with project leaders to understand development timelines, deliverables, and plan and coordinate work with internal or external stakeholders.
- Assist in developing the project strategy.
- Communicate complex data or decisions within the line and cross functionally.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 50%
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
The position requires a Masterโs degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation as a Scientist focused on drug product development in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Experience must include:
4 years of experience with each of the following:
- Designing and executing studies for at least 2 of the following: formulation development, stability studies, extractable/leachable studies, or extractable volume.
- Executing process development studies for unit operations including mixing, pooling, or filtration.
- Using at least 3 of the analytical and biophysical techniques for characterization including: HPLC, spectrophotometry, rheometry, light scattering, or zeta potential.
- Using at least 1 of the following computational techniques: statistical analysis; or mixing modeling.
- Using at least 2 of the following software packages: HPLC software platform; an electronic notebook platform; or mySQL software.
- Reviewing technical and manufacturing documents including at least 2 of the following: stability reports, manufacturing instructions or batch records; or process development reports.
- Executing, collecting, and analyzing data rich experiments acquired from the use of laboratory instruments equipped with data acquisition and control features.
- Working collaboratively within project teams.
- Explaining methodology, results, and consequences of decisions effectively to diverse audiences, including scientific and lay audiences.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including writing, reviewing, and presenting scientific information and effectively communicating the information orally and in writing.
