Overview

Want to lead product development activities from ideation to commercialization in the Reduced harm Innovative Oral Nicotine space for a Fortune 200 Company with some of the most iconic brands? If you have a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science along with 1 plus year of experience which includes working in agile teams developing new products in a lab or pilot scale process environment, we want to speak with you! We are currently looking for a Scientist I Reduced Harm Product Development on our Oral Product Innovation team in Richmond, VA.

What you will be doing:

  • Coordinating analytical sample production and submission to support foundational science projects and design of experiments (DOEs).
  • Supporting senior scientists to develop innovative oral prototypes.
  • Working with external partners to assist in product development activities.
  • Coordinating collection, storage, and inventory of hazardous waste materials; working closely with Facility personnel to ensure the proper disposal of hazardous waste materials.
  • Maintaining and organizing lab supplies. Working with Procurement to acquire materials and ingredients to support internal and external development work.
  • Supporting Product Developers with IP and Technology initiatives for Innovative Oral Products

We want you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree Engineering or Science.
  • 1+ year of relevant experience.
  • Experience in coordination of panel testing for foundational science research.
  • Experience in the use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials or substances.
  • Experience in formulations containing nicotine a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following analytical areas: GC-MS, LC-MS, dissolution test, viscometry, UV-Vis, refractometry, flash point test, density test, Karl Fischer titration, water activity test, moisture analysis, flowability test, pH test, microscope test, and smoking test.
  • Hand-on experience in at least one of the following processing areas: high shear mixing, fluidized bed agglomeration and coating, roller compaction, marumerization, tablet pressing, film casting, hot melt extrusion, pelletizing, milling, sieving, pouching, emulsification, and coacervation.
  • Positive growth mentality and the skills for innovation.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • This position will involve extensive time in lab environments that require the use of personal protection equipment.
  • Experience working in a lab and pilot scale process environment.
  • Experience working with nicotine or in Consumer-Packaged Goods industry is preferred.
