Scientist (Morphology)

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a Scientist to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries.  Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will be tasked with contributing to a multitude of projects related to the development and performance improvement of solid electrolytes. 

Job Duties:

• Lead projects related to morphology and size control of solid electrolyte materials.
• Contribute to the development of interfacial modification strategies for solid electrolyte materials.
• Perform basic materials characterization as needed to understand the surface and bulk properties of the system under study.
• Hands-on laboratory work and collaboration with electrolyte, powder production, and cell development teams.
• Conform to all safety precautions and protocols.
• Maintain thorough and accurate records of all conducted experimentation.
• Clean and organize common equipment and lab areas.
• Document and follow standard operating procedures as well as assist in drafting or editing procedures during process development.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years’ experience in the chemical industry, or master’s degree or higher in chemistry, material science, or a related discipline with 3+ years of applied research experience.
• Structured problem-solving and analytical skills and strong technical skills in areas related to solid-state chemistry, coordination chemistry, etc.
• Experience with analytical and characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, FTIR, Raman, EIS, and/or BET.
• Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence.
• Experience with glovebox use, air-sensitive materials, and/or dry room procedures is a plus.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving research and development needs.
• Highly analytical, detail-oriented mindset with an eye toward practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• The candidate must be responsible and self-motivated, with a history of stable employment and performance.

Salary Range: $61,000 - $114,000
