The Scientist in Neuromuscular Research supports development of new therapies for genetic muscle diseases. This role is involved in all aspects of in vitro/in vivo muscle disease biology, evaluating efficacy, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and mechanisms of action of our therapeutic molecules. This role leads from the bench and conducts the development and implementation of cell-based muscle disease models that support ongoing projects as well as identification and validation of new disease targets. Primary Responsibilities Include:- Design, execute, and analyze in vitro and in vivo studies to establish proof-of-mechanism and proof-of-concept of therapeutic candidates
- Hands-on experimental design, execution, and data analysis of efficacy studies to drive go/no go decisions
- Utilize resources to design, evaluate, and develop new assays to answer key muscle disease questions to drive programs towards clinical development
- Evaluate and validate human and animal models of neuromuscular diseases
- Contributes to the progress of therapeutic candidates from Research to Clinical Development by providing scientific and technical expertise, and by working effectively within cross-functional project teams
- Contribute to building a positive, team-oriented culture, by fostering Dyne core values
- Ph.D. in molecular biology, pharmacology or related life sciences and 2+ years of post-doctoral experience or BSc/MSc with 5+ years of relevant industry experience is required
- Experience in providing scientific and technical leadership applied to novel assay development, advancing challenging drug discovery programs, and mentoring junior colleagues is desirable
- Track record of scientific accomplishments with relevant publications and presentations
- Strong hands-on experience working with disease models including primary cell culture using molecular techniques including qPCR, ELISA, Luminex, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in-situ hybridization, Western blot, and fluorescent/confocal microscopy
- Hands-on experience with various in vivo techniques including dosing (IV, IM, IP, SC), blood/tissue collection and knowledge of various preclinical model systems
- Strong written and oral communication skills, organization, and multitasking, and working in a highly collaborative and cross-functional research environment
- Proven ability to work independently and effectively manage CROs and to facilitate interactions with academic labs to ensure project progression
