Arcus Biosciences currently has an excellent opportunity for a Scientist to join our Protein Science group. The successful candidate will be responsible for purification and characterization of recombinant proteins to support structural biology, assay development, high throughput screening, and other research needs.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct independent lab work and collaborate closely with other scientists within the research organization. The candidate must be able to think critically about complex experiments, execute efficiently on experimental plans, and be able to present results to a broad scientific audience. The candidate should be motivated, detail-oriented and an accountable team player.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology, or a related scientific discipline with 0-2 years of industry experience.
• A track record of successfully expressing and purifying challenging proteins.
• Deep knowledge of protein design for structure determination and assay development.
• A high level of competence in the expression of challenging proteins in bacterial, mammalian, and baculovirus expression systems.
• Extensive experience in developing and optimizing protein purification processes.
• Technical proficiency in the use of AKTA instruments, a diverse range of column chromatography methods, protein biochemical and biophysical techniques.
• Demonstrated expertise with analytical methods such as HPLC, SEC-MALS, DSF, etc.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

This role is based at our Hayward, CA location. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $125,000 - $165,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay for this posted position. The actual salary may vary based on various factors including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills and abilities, internal equity and alignment with market data.
