Scientist (R&D Integration)

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a Scientist to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries.  In this role, you will help Solid Power continue to develop and refine interfaces to enable high energy density solid-state batteries. Through hands-on work and material analysis and characterization in our state-of-the-art labs and dry rooms, you will have the opportunity to rapidly innovate in the energy storage field.  As a scientist you will collaborate closely with the electrolyte and electrode processing groups and the cell engineering team to bring your results from lab scale into production. 

Job Duties:

• Characterize and modify interfaces within battery cells
• Optimize battery layer composition and processing
• Assemble and test solid state cells
• Write reports and present the project progress internally and externally.
• Use the company’s document and change control system to properly archive technical documentation
• Work closely, collaboratively, and effectively with other departments and team members

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of experience, or master’s degree +2 years of experience in chemical engineering, material science, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
• Hands-on experience with slurry processing, electrode processing, and electrochemical cell development
• Experience in material characterization techniques including, EIS, GC-MS, and/or Raman Spectroscopy
• Experience with Python is a plus
• Structured problem-solving and analytical skills
• Rapid learner and self-motivated who thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Salary Range: $61,000 - $132,000
