Responsibilities

• Integrate into hit-finding and drug discovery cascades to support hit identification, hit-to-lead, and lead optimization campaigns.
• Develop research solutions, design and implement new techniques and strategies to study protein binding interactions, particularly with small molecules
• Employ biophysical methods enabling mechanistic studies to determine the mode-of-inhibition for promising hits.
• In collaboration with chemistry, biology, structural biology, and medicine design, characterize and establish SAR to rapidly drive the hit-to-lead process.

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry or related discipline.
• 0-5+ years of experience in biotech/pharma industry with a track record of hit-finding, hit-to-lead, and lead optimization to delivering small molecule development candidates. In the absence of industry experience, demonstration of small molecule characterization in an academic setting.
• Theoretical understanding of a wide array of biophysical assay development approaches, including NMR, SPR, BLI, ITC, DSF, MST, Mass Spec etc and experience with at least one. SPR experience is a plus.
• Direct experience in working with and characterizing challenging proteins.
• Experience in collaborating and directing out-sourced CRO activities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to both follow established protocols but also plan and execute novel strategies.

This position is classified as exempt. The anticipated annual base salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego is $112,985 to $158,924. The final base salary offered to the successful candidate will be dependent upon several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the job, education, and other factors. Treeline Biosciences is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other cities or states.
