Summary of Position:
Kronos Bio is seeking an experienced research scientist to join our Translational Development team. This individual will be expected to support translational activities within the laboratory, employing a variety of molecular and other techniques to identify and validate biomarkers. Key skills for success include a diverse experimental skill set, a positive and team-centered attitude, a willingness to learn and work collaboratively, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. In this position within the Clinical Development group, the candidate will develop and implement biomarker assays for drug candidate and clinical stage programs; this includes assays that will support patient stratification, pharmacodynamic proof of concept, and early molecular efficacy biomarkers using in-house cutting edge next generation platforms such digital spatial profiling and digital PCR. The candidate should have proven bench level expertise in establishing and performing a wide range of molecular and protein based assays. The candidate will also be responsible for development and fit-for purpose validation of assays to be used on clinical trial samples at external third-party laboratories. Keeping the company up to date with the latest cutting edge tools, technologies and platforms for both protein/nucleic acid based markers will also be the candidate’s responsibility. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to clinical programs through the development and validation of assays to be used for real-time clinical sample analysis where the data will be used for key program decision making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate and implement clinical biomarker assays
- Take ownership of complex platforms
- Use molecular and protein expression techniques including nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, qPCR/ddPCR, western blot, IHC, IF and MSD to analyze both preclinical and clinical trial samples
- Work collaboratively with other scientists within our multi-disciplinary Cambridge research team
- Maintain accurate, well-organized experimental records
- Organize and present experimental results at regular team meetings
- Maintain up to date knowledge of advancements in the field including new laboratory techniques/technologies
Qualifications:
- PhD with 2+ years of industrial/post doctoral experience or BS/MS with 10+ years of relevant lab experience
- Experience with developing and validating fit for purpose assays
- Experience working with external CROs
- Experience with working with human/clinical trial samples highly desirable
- Experience with protein and cell-based assays, including IHC, Elisa’s
- Experience with molecular biology technologies (e.g. NGS, expression profiling) is highly desirable
- Proven ability to work independently and design experiments, troubleshoot, interpret and report data
- Highly analytical mind, attention to detail, and organization skills are critical
- Collaborative and proactive attitude with excellent written and oral communication skills
