Position Summary:

We are seeking a scientist with a strong background in immunology and cell biology to join our R&D team. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading, conducting and coordinating key biological studies and experiments focused on the discovery, biology, and mechanism of action of novel inhibitory targets for the treatment of inflammatory diseases and cancer. 

Your Role:

• Develop new tools and assays using human and mouse immune cells to identify novel antibody drug targets and study the biology and mechanism of action of inhibitory receptors
• Independently design and conduct experiments to identify and screen new targets and immunomodulatory activity of antibody candidates
• Design, manage, and coordinate large scale proteomic and transcriptomic studies with academic collaborators and CROs
• Participate and work collaboratively in multidisciplinary team efforts including leading specific parts of related projects 
• Assist in writing manuscripts, abstracts, and patents
• Present regular research updates to project teams and R&D management

Qualifications and Expertise:

• PhD in cell biology, immunology, pharmacology, molecular biology or a closely related field
• Minimum of 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience OR 1-2 years of industry experience
• Extensive experience in working with primary human immune cells, signaling techniques, including western blot, co-IPs, flow cytometry, and (primary) mammalian cell transfection
• Relevant knowledge and track record working with large scale proteome and transcriptome data is definitely a plus
• Experience with therapeutic antibodies, target evaluation and knockdown of membrane proteins preferred
• Ability to think critically and creatively across multiple disciplines and demonstrated experience in assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting
• Flexibility in prioritizing work, ability to multitask and successfully interact with a diverse team of scientists to deliver results meeting the needs of various stakeholder groups

This position is located in San Carlos, CA and requires up to 5% time traveling.

The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
