Position Description:

The Scrum Master is a servant-leader for the Scrum Team helping everyone understand Scrum theory, practices, rules, and values. The Scrum Master helps those outside the Scrum Team understand their interactions with the Scrum Team: Ensures Scrum is understood and related activities are executed in alignment with client standards, Guides the team throughout the iterative software development process, Sets up retrospectives, sprint reviews or sprint planning sessions, Shields the team from interruptions during the sprint, Removes obstacles that affect the team, Manages communications / interactions within the team and with external stakeholders to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team. Manages large operational or tactical iterative development projects. A Project Manager leading small-to-medium projects of moderate complexity and typical project size: fewer than 10 FTE OR participates as a member of a project team for larger and more complex projects. Quickly earns the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders. Resolves conflict and delivers tough messages with grace. Continually updates relevant business stakeholders of project status.

This role is based in Houston, Texas.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Guiding and Coaching the Scrum Team and the organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values.• Guiding and Coaching the Scrum Team on how to get the most out of self-organization.• Helping to refine and groom the Product Backlog with the Product Owner.• Assessing the agile maturity of the team and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.• Removing impediments (people, process or tools) that hinders agility within the team Building a safe environment to stimulate innovation.• Assisting with internal and external communication, and improving transparency leveraging visual dashboarding to keep information up to date.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Scrum Master certifications (PSM I, CSM, PSM II, CSP, CTC).• IT Experience of 10-14 years. In this overall experience, should be playing the Scrum Master role for at least 2-4 years for a Scrum Team.• Knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.• Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.) • Knowledge of other approaches discussed in the Agile space: XP, Kanban, Nexus, LeSS, SAFe, DevOps etc. • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.• Knowledge of Software development.
