Our Surgical Smart Solutions team is responsible for building the cloud-based Digital Health Solutions (DHS) platform. This includes user-centric solutions such as SMARTCataract that help eye care professionals operate with greater efficiency, flexibility, and accuracy.

Alcon is looking to hire a Hire Scrum Master with expertise in the requirements engineering practice for our SMART Solutions to support the development of our cutting-edge medical device software and a next-gen health care delivery platform.

As a Hybrid Scrum Master, you will drive our development forward by conveying our vision to our delivery teams and facilitating agile ceremonies. Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and SMEs to elicit, analyze, and prioritize requirements for software development projects. You will create a safe and fun working environment for the team while seeking continuous improvement and help build self-organizing, self-managing, high-performing teams. In this role, a typical day will include:

• Looks for ways to strengthen the team's understanding of Agile / Scrum
• Ensures teams actions are aligned with the project goals/vision
• Ensures Scrum practices are used and improved within and across teams
• Provides transparency to the organization around product development
• Identifies trade-offs between short-/ long-term benefits, driving shared vision between the team and PO
• Protect the team from interference or external distraction, and remove obstacles so the team can deliver sprint goals
• Removes impediments at the squad level (e.g., dependencies between squads, scrum of scrums content, backlog blockers, etc.)
• Coordinates product launch strategies and release progress, reviewing burn-up metrics in sprint reviews with stakeholders
• Collaborate with various stakeholders in analyzing, and prioritizing requirements
• Conduct thorough requirements gathering sessions and workshops to understand and document functional and non-functional requirements and define clear acceptance criteria
• Facilitate requirements refinement and clarification sessions with the development team and product manager to ensure a shared understanding of project scope and deliverables.
• Create and maintain detailed requirement specifications, user stories, use cases, and other relevant artifacts, ensuring traceability and alignment with business objectives.
• Validate and verify requirements throughout the development lifecycle, coordinating with testers and developers to ensure accurate implementation

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Associate degree or equivalent years of directly related experience.
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
• 2 years of Relevant Experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Professional experience with Agile and Scrum; Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP) or Certified Scrum Coach (CSC); MedTech, clinical, and/or surgical knowledge and enthusiasm is a plus
• Possesses User Experience Certifications (UX Master Certification, HFI Certified Usability or User Experience Analyst, etc)
• MedTech, clinical, and/or surgical knowledge and enthusiasm is a plus

PREFERRED TECHNICAL:

• Proficient in Scrum:
  • Knows various Agile methodologies; experienced in coaching Scrum teams
  • Experienced in assessing how the team is doing and driving necessary actions to improve
  • Develops and fosters teamwork to facilitate team dynamics
  • Coaches and mentors the Scrum team
  • Skilled in building relationships and navigating through organizations
  • Background in delivery/software development and technical experience working with various technology stacks preferred
• Proficient in Requirements Engineering:
  • Experience in eliciting, analyzing, and documenting software requirements in an agile environment
  • Familiarity with software
