Salary Range

$135,000 - $229,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a S&E Project Manager to lead multi-functional teams of computer scientists, system engineers, and geophysicists to make technical decisions regarding the direction of the project. The Geophysical Monitoring System (GMS) project is a large-scale reengineering software system which plans and performs complex science and engineering to deliver a modernized system to its customer. Join us to develop creative solutions to unique national security challenges!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Serve as the GMS project lead and work with management serving as the staff primary interface to customers for project status and reporting
  • Work to define and implement project plans, schedules, and work while identifying and addressing both technical and non-technical risks and issues
  • Be responsible for recommending changes to improve engineering and project processes
This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Qualifications We Require

  • Master's degree in relevant STEM field plus 8 years' S&E Engineering technical experience; OR Bachelor's degree stated fields plus 12 years'
  • Experience leading teams on large-scale software systems
  • Current PMP certification or equivalent certification, or the ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Active DOE SCI Clearance or equivalent to start

Modern Systems Solutions (6370) is a capability organization whose core abilities is the science and engineering of Information Solutions creating engineering centric hardware and software designs for mission focused large data information extraction. Modern Systems Solutions emphasizes developing system requirements and architectures; algorithms; application solutions; and modeling and simulation.
Department 6371 develops operational monitoring software in support of the US and International nuclear monitoring and non-proliferation mission. From basic research and development to fully deployed operational data processing and analysis systems, the department specializes in software architecture and development, geophysics, seismology/infrasound, machine learning, big data analytics, algorithm development and data analysis. We are currently responsible for the National Data Center Modernization and the design and engineering of systems supporting Proliferation Assessment.

Security Clearance

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) SCI security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship.
