What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a motivated technical Project Manager to support Modeling and Simulation (ModSim) development for the USNDS (United States Nuclear Detonation [NUDET] Detection System) program. USNDS encompasses monitoring for nuclear explosions in the atmosphere and space using space-based sensors and attendant ground processing. Join us to develop creative solutions to unique national security challenges!
The selected candidate will lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop modeling and simulation tools that support USNDS. The primary tools are NUDET Detection System Modeling and Simulation (NDSMS) and the Integrated Simulation Program (ISP), that provide fast-running modeling for real-time representation of system performance and high-fidelity simulation for ground system verification, respectively.

About Our Team
We provide research and development (R&D), systems engineering, system analysis, system test, and project management for the United States Nuclear Detonation Detection System (USNDS) to DoD and DOE sponsors. We use systems engineering expertise to support USNDS space and ground systems throughout the lifecycle. We use advanced modeling and simulation capabilities to assess USNDS performance as a system-of-systems and inform partner decisions. The department works closely with ground and flight systems to ensure that USNDS needs are met.

Security Clearance

- Work closely with other project managers, software development teams, systems engineers, and nuclear physics/phenomenology experts in to realize ModSim tools for high-consequence national security systems
- Lead daily tactical oversight and direction for ModSim development efforts, including coordination across multiple programs and projects
- Provide technical direction regarding architecture and implementation decisions for the ModSim tool development
- Ensure technical integrity of ModSim products via peer review (code and documentation), engineering change control, and other processes
- Lead and manage technical change control process for ModSim tools
- Coordinate verification, validation, and accreditation (VV&A) with ModSim systems engineers and external customer organizations
- Deliver regular project reporting to multiple internal management teams and external customers
- Develop FY-based execution plans (scope, schedule, and budget) in coordination with project management and execution teams
- Develop long-term (5-year plus) strategic plans for USNDS ModSim development
Qualifications We Require
- Master's degree in a technical STEM field plus 2 years' relevant technical experience OR STEM bachelor's degree plus 6 years'
- Experience defining and executing software development projects
- Proficient with modeling and simulation applications and development
- Current PMP certification or equivalent certification, or the ability to obtain within 12 months
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Proficiency in self-directed problem solving
- Ability to distill complicated issues into succinct summaries
- Familiarity with remote sensing and application of modeling for remote sensing applications
- Familiarity with USNDS
- Experience with software development processes, requirements derivation, and product verification/validation for software tools
- Active DOE Q clearance
