MITRE's Enterprise Design, Discovery & AI Department is seeking a team member who is passionate about search and artificial intelligence (AI) to help us revolutionize knowledge reuse within MITRE. This person will work closely with the business to understand search/information needs. They will also work closely with the internal teams (IT, security, accounts administration, etc.) to ensure that all efforts are fully integrated. The position requires strong organizational and time management skills as individuals work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Learning about MITRE's business needs
  • Serving as a thought leader on search and AI including strategy, technologies, and optimization techniques for search and content recommenders
  • Designing, planning, and implementing performant and optimized search and AI systems based on open source and commercial solutions
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting technical issues related to search including challenges with content, access, security/permissions
  • Analyzing performance data, formulating insights, and translating them to actionable next steps
  • Managing daily relationships with vendors and technology platforms
  • Leading functional testing of search and AI solutions
  • Communicating to senior leadership to influence change, and end users to ensure adoption of enterprise search and AI solutions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an Al-related field of study
  • 5+ years of experience with search, analytics, machine learning, deep learning, data engineering, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Machine Learning (ML)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven knowledge of search engines, SEO, API options, and third-party tools
  • Experience with search architecture, federated search architecture, connectors, crawling conventions, indexing details, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with search applications such as Microsoft Search, Elastic, SOLR, Elastic Cloud, and the Watson Suite
  • Strong analytical capabilities and experience with query logs analysis
  • Project management experience
  • Hands-on experience using tools such as: Python, TensorFlow, AWS, or IBM Watson
  • Proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms, systems
