Section 508 Tester

Job Description

Distributed Solutions, Inc. (DSI) is a rapidly expanding company looking for a highly motivated Section 508 Tester. The successful candidate will work closely with our Quality Assurance Team in our Product Management Group to ensure that workstream deliverables meet Section 508 Accessibility standards. This is a critical role that will directly contribute to increased customer satisfaction. The position is available in Reston, Virginia, or can be done remotely.

Requires Experience:

• Strong knowledge and experience in Quality Assurance methodologies and software testing life cycle.
• Deep understanding of Section 508 compliance requirements and guidelines to ensure software applications are accessible to people with disabilities.
• Demonstrated experience in using JAWS for accessibility testing, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot issues effectively.
• Familiarity with a range of assistive technologies besides JAWS, such as NVDA, VoiceOver, etc., for comprehensive accessibility testing.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.0/Section 508 accessibility standards and best practices and experience with remediation.
• Skilled in conducting thorough accessibility audits and implementing best practices in web and software accessibility.
• Good grasp of software development processes and programming languages to effectively communicate with development teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify accessibility barriers and suggest feasible solutions.
• Attention to detail in evaluating both the functionality and accessibility of applications to ensure compliance with 508 standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Commitment to staying updated with the latest trends and developments in accessibility standards and QA testing tools and methodologies.

Experience and Skills

• Skilled in using assistive technologies such as JAWS for screen reading to ensure Section 508 compliance.
• Possess 2 or more years of experience in testing for 508 accessibility compliance.
• Capable of comprehending the day-to-day operational requirements of customers and identifying areas that need improvement in business processes to suggest solutions.
• Proficient in reading HTML code through the browser inspection tool.
• Familiar with ALM and Confluence tools.
• Possess a strong initiative to proactively establish relationships, search for opportunities to innovate and improve value, and provide innovative ideas for enhancement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Offers assistance and advice on accessibility policies and ensures compliance with all mandatory government standards.
• Experienced in completing manual assessments.
