Job Summary

Barings is seeking a Securitized Products Desk Analyst to work closely with each of Barings' Securitized research, trading, and portfolio management teams as needed to provide support for the platform's broad investment activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, credit surveillance, portfolio risk and surveillance, ad hoc client inquiries and portfolio analytic requests, as well as cash flow forecasting and special projects. Duties will also include ongoing and periodic surveillance to monitor risk and validate investment assumptions. The preferred candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of credit underwriting, an ability to evaluate capital structures, follow fundamental credit performance and generate and evaluate cash flows (delinquency, default, recoveries, prepayments), as well as an understanding of company fundamentals and industry trends. A solid foundation in statistical analysis and strong credit research background is required; structured finance experience is highly desired. The position will reside in our Charlotte, NC office, and report to the Head of the Global Securitized Products Group.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support senior research, trading and portfolio staff and serve as platform expert as needed
• Track originator/servicer, industry and macroeconomic trends
• Identify critical performance drivers and enhance credit research, trading and portfolio processes as necessary
• Assist with the ongoing evolution/integration and transition of research, trading and portfolio processes
• Conduct surveillance on portfolio holdings, build-out existing tools to manage investment/portfolio risk pro-actively
• Provide written/verbal thought leadership on securitized asset classes internally and externally
• Some travel may be required

Qualifications

• Strong technical and quantitative skills
• Experience with programming languages, databases and various analytical platforms (Intex, Bloomberg, Aladdin, etc.) is desirable
• Excellent attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and work ethic
• Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
• Effective communication skills across multiple levels of a diverse organization
• Bachelor's Degree in finance, economics, mathematics, computer science or engineering; advanced degree and/or CFA designation (or progress towards attaining) is preferred
• Minimum of 3 years work experience in securitized credit research, trading and/or portfolio management
