Job Description Summary:
PayPal is looking for a passionate, self-driven, seasoned cybersecurity professional to engage with PayPal's technology and business leadership to bake security into their strategic plans and to understand the business' roadmap. This Team Lead position will have leadership responsibility over a team of senior Security Business Partners to enhance and enable PayPal's Cybersecurity's ability to protect the brand by serving as the primary point of contact between the security function and PayPal's business unit(s) and/or corporate functions. The Security Business Partner (SBP) Team Leader is responsible for maintaining a strategic relationship with the specific business unit or function that they are aligned to and to oversee the efforts of the SBPs on that team. The SBPs are senior and influential members of the Cybersecurity team who have demonstrated organizational, technical, and security program management expertise. In addition, they are adept at relationship and stakeholder management.
Your role requires ensuring close integration of the SBPs on your team with various leaders, technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive adoption of security policies, standards, and industry-leading practices. The Team Lead will also be responsible for creating and maintaining relationships of their own with their assigned business unit and associated development teams to ensure safety and trust across all platforms, products, and services globally. This position reports to the Director of Business Security Engagement in the Enterprise Cyber Security (ECS) organization.

Job Description:
Role
• An effective SBP Team leader is someone who has both conceptual and technical knowledge of the cybersecurity space but also has a knowledge of business operations and displays a proven track record of leadership technical professionals.
• The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively with technical engineers, developers, project managers, and leadership all the way up to senior business leaders with equal ease.
• It must be someone comfortable in the role of Advisor and not jump to "approver" as that should be done by other teams within ECS.
• The SBP is there to advise the business on risk and to help them navigate through the risk landscape always with PayPal policies and control frameworks in mind.
• Basically, this position is all about relationships, so it is incumbent upon the SBP to be able to establish and maintain them at different levels within and without the organization.
Enable Security by Design
• Provide guidance that balances business requirements with the firm's security policies, standards, and frameworks. Drive adoption of security best practices.
• Participate in strategic initiatives and programs to ensure that cybersecurity controls are accounted for early within the project and software development lifecycles. Work with business units to provide guidance that Information Security policy is complied with for processes, systems, and strategic initiatives
• Provide cybersecurity expertise and strategic thought leadership, balanced with an understanding of the Cybersecurity and Business priorities
• Engage and development relationships across cybersecurity teams where additional subject matter expertise is needed in support of business priorities
Enable Risk-Informed Decisions
• Communicate enterprise security controls and facilitate the submission and approval of business-necessary reviews to those controls both prior to deployment and ongoing
• Understand the threat landscape to assess potential systems and process vulnerabilities to determine security control requirements required
• Work with various PayPal businesses to identify remediation roadmaps for enterprise control exceptions or inefficient controls
• Ensure top risks are evaluated and critical issues are raised for decisions with stakeholders
• Become a trusted advisor to their assigned PayPal business team to facilitate security related initiatives that are aligned with Enterprise Cybersecurity strategy
• Proactively identify opportunities for stakeholder escalation to ensure top issues/decisions are addressed with enterprise leaders
Support Enterprise-wide Cybersecurity Maturity
• Participate in Cybersecurity Incident Response events where business support is required. Provide information to Enterprise Cybersecurity Operations as needed
• Provide support to PayPal Business roadmaps to guide them to achieve control compliance and integrate with latest cybersecurity products and platforms
• Represent PayPal security to external parties in building long-term roadmaps for external security products
Experience Requirements
• 15+ years of technology roles with experience & understanding of Cyber (or IT) Risk Management practices
• 5+ years experience building and leading technical teams.
• Broad security knowledge. Current understanding of Industry trends and emerging threats; and knowledge of incident response methodologies and technologies
• Experience in the design, development, implementation, and operational support of business-critical solutions in large scale environments and organizations
• Ability to translate technical/security issues to business users
• Executive presence. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences incl. executives, business stakeholders and IT team members.
• Strong relationship, team building and facilitation skill
• Experience in delivering projects leveraging global teams with matrix resources. Ability to influence others to achieve objectives
• High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with little supervision.
• Experience in financial services and security technology industries
Competency Requirements
• Outstanding thought leadership, architectural and implementation skills - a thinker and a doer - able to look at information security comprehensively and strategically, and able to translate business strategy into technical vision and strategy
• Cyber security risk management experience. Experience with security practices such as security incident response and risk management.
• Ability to build and manage high-quality teams and develop security engineering talent from both internal and external sources.
• A track record of proactively building and maintaining healthy and productive partnerships with executives and operating teams in all geographies; effectively converting security perspectives into the business context of the organization
