Security Engineer

Job Description:

The primary purpose of this role is surge support for the USDA ISC project to transition an Excel spreadsheet system to an automated dashboard system to improve vulnerability management in a more efficient manner. Two liaisons will be assigned for approximately 9 months of coverage.

Duties/ Responsibilities 

The contractor will be responsible to help with the following:

• Build a new dashboard for the USDA by migrating scanning-date from Excel reporting system to a new system that takes in scanning data from Tenable, Tanium, Splunk, etc.
• Provide surge support working with the Mission Areas as a liaison to ensure the vulnerability dashboards meet Mission Area needs, and ensure the collaboration between ISC and the Mission Area to resolve identified vulnerabilities as efficiently as possible.
• Provide vulnerability mitigation support for ISC and customers as it relates to vulnerability data received from the scanning software through reports.
• Evaluate vulnerability report results ensuring we receive the most accurate and valid data as it pertains to the environment.
• Actively escalate all critical issues to ISC federal staff in a timely manner, and coordinate problem identification and troubleshooting calls with all necessary parties.
• Perform other required tasks to ensure success of the project.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Background in Cybersecurity
• Strong familiarity with Office 365, particularly in PowerPoint Excel
• Background in vulnerability management, (understanding CVEs, etc.)  
• Cybersecurity certification such as Security+, CySA+    
• Expert skills in Excel (highly experienced)
• Strong report writing skills
• Experience with creating Splunk dashboards

Nice to Have Skills

• Prefer prior scanning data experience and report reading experience with Tenable
• Tanium report reading background is preferred
• Basic skills in Python Scripting strongly preferred

Education and Experience:

• 5 to 7 years

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

Salary Range:

• 110k - 120k annually (project length is estimated for 9 months)
