Summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. - Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position is restricted to applicants with veterans preference. However, applications will be accepted from non-preference eligibles that may be referred for employment consideration only in the absence of applicants with veterans preference.
- You will be required to pass a yearly physical and continue to be physically fit. Required to pass a Physical Agility Test prior to employment and annually thereafter.
- Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general and 6 months of specialized experience. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events. General experience must demonstrate the following: Experience such as administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information.

This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
Several vacancies may be filled.
A 40-hour work week is typical for this position.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Call back and emergency overtime maybe requirements of this position.
Work may include assignment to train second, third or rotating shifts or weekend and holidays.
Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
Vacancies filled from this announcement may be filled at any grade level listed.
If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This work requires, on a regular and recurring basis, long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, stooping, reaching and similar activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed for the most part is outdoors in the heat, cold, rain, and wind during the hours of daylight and darkness; with work in or under extremely dangerous conditions. The work environment regularly involves high risked with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environment stress which requires a range of safety and other precautions. The incumbent may also work in areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to fumes, noise, and heat.
A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
