Key Accountabilities

Brookfield is seeking a Manger, Security to support the Multifamily division. The candidate will work closely with the Senior Vice President to help build out best-in-class security programs and services for the US Multifamily portfolio. A primary responsibility will include providing leadership, direction and advice to managers, employees, contractors, and vendors to ensure efficient and thorough delivery of security services, crime prevention and investigation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as multifamily company representative for all security related matters and issues.
  • Establish and/or enhance security-related policies and procedures for all types of multifamily properties (Garden, High Rise, etc.).
  • Produce security related procedures manuals for all assets and contract security personnel.
  • Proactively identifies, manages, and mitigates security risks amongst our various US Multifamily assets.
  • Review and analyze security trends within the portfolio and be able to create reports for presentation.
  • Inventory all security systems and ensure systems are in compliance with technology standards.
  • Ensure access control systems (resident, associates, master keys, etc.) have documented policies in line with best practices.
  • Evaluate technology monitoring systems (cameras) and provide recommendations for system updates and standardization.
  • Review and update all third-party security agreements (Patrol services, Remote monitoring vendors) to ensure scope of work is appropriate and consistent across the company.
  • Investigate all security-related incidents across portfolio and interact with law enforcement when required. Keeps Senior Vice President and Director of Claims apprised of building emergencies in real time.
  • Ensures all communities have updated and valid emergency procedures manuals, crisis communication plans and other life safety procedures.
  • Develop standard resident communications to address security related issues that are occurring or have occurred at the properties.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Network Security, Jurisprudence, or Risk Management plus minimum two (2) years experience in the Security field in a management role. Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in commercial multi-tenant properties is preferred.
  • Able to write reports in a factual, concise manner. Ability to maintain clear and accurate security records.
  • Able to speak in front of groups and present training.
  • Strong technical skills with computers and computerized systems. Knowledge in the operation of various security systems used by portfolio.
  • Demonstrate ability to think strategically and execute value added solutions.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively and collaboratively within team settings and build partnerships both internal and external.
