Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes: (1) administering a multi-disciplined security program that includes providing guidance and assistance in two or more of the following security discipline areas: Personnel Security (PERSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC), Foreign Disclosure (FD), Industrial Security (INDUSEC) and Information Security (INFOSEC ; and (2) conducting security inspections any of the above security discipline areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

OR

Completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Intelligence and National Security; Security Management; National Security; International Security; Homeland Security; Strategic Security, etc.

OR

Possession of the specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and completion of at least two years of graduate education as described above, but less than the required three years. Compute the percentage of the requirements that you meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.).
