Seed Lab Associate

The Role:  

Meati Foods is a fast-growing food company with fermentation at the core of our business. We are hiring a microbiologist to support the initial steps of mycelium and spore production at our production facility. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a microbiology/fermentation lab setting and prioritizes quality and meticulousness in their work.

Responsibilities: 

• Fungal cultivation in liquid and solid state
• Preparation of fungal spores
• Microbiological media preparation
• Monitoring for potential culture contamination
• Record keeping and inventory management with accuracy and responsibility
• Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
• Ensure that all safety guidelines are strictly followed and maintain a clean and orderly environment

Qualifications:  

• BS in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry or related field
• Microscopy experience
• Laboratory experience with aseptic technique
• Proven experience as Lab Technician or similar position
• Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment
• Working knowledge of MS Office and database systems
• Ability to work independently and under aggressive timelines
• Experience in solid-state fermentation preferred
• Experience in spore production preferred
• Experience with cell counters preferred 
• Experience with LIMs or other inventory tracking systems preferred

Compensation:  

$26.50 per hour, plus a $2.00 shift differential for individuals scheduled for weekday nights, a $4.00 shift differential for individuals scheduled for weekend days, and a $6.00 shift differential for individuals scheduled for weekend nights for this role, which is just one aspect of our total compensation package. In addition to the hourly rate, this position is eligible for a potential quarterly bonus and equity! Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
