Position Overview

Hybrid (3 days in office) work schedule in our Chicago, IL or Salt Lake City, UT office.
 

Seen is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join one of our various cross-functional teams. In this role, you will work within a team consisting of product managers, designers, software engineers, data scientists and other data engineers to deliver new products and features. You will work across the entire stack including data ingestion, transformation, modelling, business intelligence, infrastructure, and machine learning.

Responsibilities

• Data ingestion: Ingest data from SFTP, storage buckets, APIs and relational databases. We use tools that include Fivetran, Prefect and Google Datastream.
• Data modelling: Model and transform data within our data warehouse (BigQuery) using dbt.
• Business Intelligence: build data marts and expose data within our self-serve business intelligence platform (Looker).
• Contribute to shared data platform features: Build internal tooling to improve observability (monitoring, logging, alerting).
• Ad-hoc analysis: help the business to answer complex questions.
• Machine learning: build and deploy ML models.

Our ideal candidate
 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related science field with strong analytical skills.
• 5+ years of programming experience in Python and SQL.
• 3+ years of experience building ETL pipelines.
• 3+ years of experience working with data warehouses.
• Direct experience using Machine Learning / statistics for business purposes.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical topics to a non-technical audience.
