Role Summary

Flowserve Corporation is a leading provider of flow control products and services supporting the energy industry and associated market segments. We, at Flowserve, aspire to continue our leadership in the flow control domain and to diversify and expand into new and growing market segments.

We are looking for a Segment Manager to lead the Diversification aspect for our Flow Controls Division (FCD) business. The role will be based within the Strategic Business Management (SBM) function of the business and will report into the Director of Segment Management. The position will develop, maintain, support execution, and continuously improve robust industry-based long-term growth plans. The position is vital to help us deliver on our aspirations, by combining strong understanding of the market and flow control system requirements and by planning and executing segment specific growth initiatives.

The individual will work with industry experts within the Organization, industry consultants, collaborate with other functions including Product Management, Business Intelligence, Innovation and Technology, Sales & Commercial to define opportunities and articulate strategies for growth. The role blends analyzing market trends & market research data, understanding market requirements, to identify growth opportunities. The position will develop market driven value propositions and will champion positioning of our products and services offerings in the segment. This role requires a savvy market driven individual with strong business and technical acumen. Having a revenue and profitability-based mind-set to make informed decisions based on current and future market trends while considering business performance targets is crucial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term industry plans and supports execution of industry plans related to the segment.
  • Collaborate with Business intelligence and market research teams to understand and define the market - size, growth potential and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with product management, new product development, innovation, and technology functions to support market driven product development and R&D plans.
  • Assess global activities in segment, keep abreast with direction & trends, projects, and investments.
  • Align segment strategy with business strategy, sales strategy, and product roadmaps.
  • Develop and own product portfolio positioning within segment.
  • Enhance Flowserve's position as a thought leader in industry, represent Flowserve FCD portfolio at industry forums.
  • Develop value proposition for products and services within segment.
  • Develop and own ideas/growth opportunities funnel for segments.
  • Cross-functional collaboration across different flow control businesses and across geographical locations
  • Knowledge sharing, coaching, and mentoring.

Required Experience/Skills

  • 10+ years' total experience, with an engineering/STEM degree, and relevant business, operations, or engineering experience in one or multiple industries within the segment
  • 3-5 years' experience in flow control industry in applications engineering, sales, commercial operations, technical sales, technical services, product management/marketing or relevant experience with engineering firms/distributors/end users in engineering/technical services related to design and/or specification of flow control equipment and systems.
  • Strong understanding of industry ecosystem, value chain, and value creation points in value chain
  • Professionals with any combination of experience in the segment aspiring for roles in:
    • Industry marketing
    • product marketing
    • strategic marketing
    • product management
    • business management
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25 % of time as and when required.

Preferred Experience/Skills

  • Experience with or exposure to design/operation of flow control systems in one or more industries within the diversification segment
  • Experience as current/past industry manager, industry marketing or product marketing manager/engineer
