Senior A.I. Research Engineer

What is the Role:

The will play a pivotal role in driving the development and implementation of advanced AI solutions, providing technical expertise, in-depth analysis, and develop new decentralized AI businesses and systems.  This role will report to the VP, Strategy and will be a cornerstone in the expansion and refinement of our business incubation strategy.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AI research, proficiency in coding, and hands-on experience in developing AI products and solutions from conception to deployment. 

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

Incubation:

• Lead efforts to explore new AI techniques, methodologies, and algorithms, staying abreast of the latest developments in the field and identifying opportunities for innovation.
• Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement AI strategies that align with business objectives and drive innovation across the organization.
• Conduct comprehensive data analyses to derive insights, patterns, and trends from large and complex datasets, leveraging statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms.
• Rapidly prototype and iterate on AI concepts and ideas, developing proof-of-concept solutions to validate hypotheses, refine assumptions, and demonstrate feasibility.
• Train and fine-tune machine learning and deep learning models using appropriate datasets and techniques, optimizing model performance and generalization capabilities.
• Evaluate the performance, robustness, and reliability of AI models and systems through rigorous testing and validation procedures, ensuring alignment with project requirements and objectives.

General:

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts, to integrate AI solutions into end-to-end applications and workflows.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, implementation details, and best practices, to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
• Maintain a high level of quality and implement rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure the reliability, robustness, and performance of systems in real-world environments.
• Proficient in multiple languages including, but not limited to, Python, Go, Rust, Java, C, C++, SQL, TensorFlow
• Stay updated on emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in AI research and engineering, continuously expanding expertise and skills in the field.
• Technical Leadership: Serve as a key technical leader and subject matter expert in AI, providing guidance and mentorship to interdisciplinary teams of engineers and researchers.
• AI Engineering: Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced AI algorithms, models, and systems to solve complex problems and deliver scalable solutions.
• Technical Evaluation: Evaluate third-party AI technologies, tools, and platforms, assessing their suitability for integration into our AI ecosystem and providing recommendations for adoption.

Qualifications:

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in AI research, engineering, or a related technical role, with a focus on developing and deploying AI solutions.
• Strong expertise in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, or other AI subfields, with a solid understanding of algorithms, methodologies, and frameworks.
• Proficient in multiple programming languages including, but not limited to, Python, Go, Rust, Java, C, C++, SQL, TensorFlow
• Experience in decentralized AI is preferred, but not required.
• Experience with data analysis, statistical techniques, and machine learning tools for extracting insights from large datasets.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and optimization.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience working in agile development environments and familiarity with software engineering best practices is preferred.
