ABOUT THIS ROLE

BerlinRosen is seeking a Senior Account Executive to join this rapidly growing Business and Culture Strategy team to support client strategies for a range of investors, startup founders and other brands. The Senior Account Executive will support with daily client relations, the planning and execution of day-to-day project deliverables and conceptualizing brand strategies, pitches and media placements.

In this role, you will represent a number of investors, entrepreneurs and brand leaders, helping them scale culturally-informed businesses across industries, from fashion to beauty, sports to entertainment, media to finance.

Role location: This role is based in our New York, N.Y. or Los Angeles, C.A. offices on a hybrid basis. Staff will be requested to visit our clients and attend in-person events and monthly in-person team meetings. On an optional basis, our New York, N.Y. office is currently open to staff. Proof of vaccination is required to work in any of BerlinRosen’s offices and for on-site tasks.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a Senior Account Executive on the Technology and Innovation team, you will…

  • Conceptualize and drive new story angles and other media opportunities for clients: such as landing feature stories for clients even when there is no news to announce, or drafting a persuasive and compelling pitch on behalf of a client for a high-profile interview, award, or conference
  • Drive development of first drafts of communication strategies along with teammates
  • Place numerous stories through persistence and creativity: identifying new targets and trying new approaches until the story is landed
  • Be an active participant on client calls: you will contribute to brainstorming, flagging concerns and problem-solving during weekly check-ins with executive members of our client teams
  • Write high-quality client deliverables without any typos or mistakes, including talking points, op-eds and media plans, edit junior staff’s materials
  • Drive day-to-day execution with little guidance and stay on track of client deliverables
  • Develop insights-driven media research and analysis that can be quickly used to inform key client strategies and presentations

Essential skills:

  • At least 4 years of experience in communications either in-house or at a PR agency
  • Strong media relationships and a proven track record of securing stories in elite business, tech, finance and consumer news media outlets (e.g., Bloomberg, NYT, WSJ, American Banker, CNBC, Fast Company, CNN, Axios, Fortune, Wired, etc.)
    • Some experience pitching trade, advertising, media, fintech and HR media (AdWeek, AdAge, etc.) is ideal though not required
  • Proven ability to become a savvy and nimble student of the “news” and quickly identify new media opportunities and narratives to insert our clients’ voices into the news cycle
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and with confidence both verbally and in writing, with varying levels of staff, clients, the media and comfortable thinking on their feet
  • Impeccable writing skills for internal and external audiences (including staff, partners, investors, reporters and consumers/the broad public). Our clients are newsmakers and tastemakers—and their decisions have a direct impact on a wide group of stakeholders. We’re looking for someone who can confidently write both a personalized email to investors and a NYT-worthy op-ed
  • Organized and comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a proven ability to handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly and meet deadlines

Preferred skills:

  • Prior financial services PR experience, including but not limited to working with or for a bank, VC, hedge fund, family office, foundation or other financial services institution

Note: Interested in this role but it’s not quite the right match? Applicants who meet some but not all or exceed the above criteria are still encouraged to apply! We are eager to speak with candidates with diverse backgrounds and can assess role leveling on an individual basis.
