POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Accounting Leader, in accordance with GAAP and other organizational principles and objectives, the Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the financial statements. The Senior Accountant prepares the month end financial statements and reports, performs account reconciliations, maintains the general ledger, prepares surplus tax filings, and assists with audit preparations, along with other accounting duties. This role provides prompt, accurate, courteous, "best in class" service to the Profit Center, our partners, the leadership team and all staff.
Essential Duties and Functions:
- Prepares in-depth financial analyses, research to support, and facilitate timely management decisions and/or financial reports or statements
- Performs journal entries, analyzes and reconciles general ledger, and explains variances.
- Completes monthly balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis
- Performs the monthly close of the agency management and ERP systems
- Prepares surplus lines taxes and other disbursements to carriers and agents
- Assists with audits by preparing analytical schedules, responding to inquiries, researching issues, and implementing recommended changes
- Develops and maintains documented accounting systems and desktop procedures for fiscal functions and assist in the development of company internal control policies and procedures
- Completes ad hoc reporting as requested from Finance and other internal departments.

- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Financial reporting (e.g. financial statement preparation, review and analysis)

- Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Candidate must be self-directed and highly motivated
- Ability the see "big picture" and small steps needed to achieve goals

Required
- Bachelor of Accountancy
- Preferred but not necessary, Certified Public Accountant and/or Master's Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
- 5+ years' experience in corporate accounting and finance
- Sales and Surplus Lines tax experience a plus
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and at minimum an intermediate level user of Excel
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Personal flexibility around the monthly close cycle to execute on tight deadlines

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including skills, experience, work location and more. We offer competitive pay while still allowing for compensation growth within the position and company.
