Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant

AlleyCorp is hiring a Senior Accountant to join our newly created finance team. You will play an important role in building the financial and operational infrastructure of this fast-growing and dynamic firm. You will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, investment transactions and monitoring of our portfolio companies. You will work regularly with our investment team leaders and our outsourced accounting and tax firms. You will bring a solid accounting background, and a cheerful, team oriented can-do attitude.

Responsibilities 

• Responsible for the timely and accurate review of the monthly books and records prepared by our outsourced accounting firm 
• Review the completeness and accuracy of the fund and investor reports prepared by fund administrators
• Responsible for accurate recording of investment transactions and tracking portfolio company performance  
• Process bill payments, contractor payments, expense reimbursements, and invoices for the management company 
• Prepare internal deliverables including internal data requests, portfolio analysis, investment performance analysis, and ad hoc reporting of fund/investor data
• Process subscriptions, capital calls, distributions, and shareholder actions for our investments in third party funds  
• Help with implementation of new finance and operational systems, including NetSuite and Cobalt portfolio monitoring software
• Manage and modify accounting/financial systems, procedures, and processes, as necessary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field
• 4+ years of public or private accounting experience, CPA preferred
• Experience with venture capital and/or private equity funds preferred  
• Cheerful disposition, team player and detail oriented
• Must work well in a very dynamic and entrepreneurial environment
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with Excel required  
• Experience with NetSuite preferred
