Senior Accountant
Job Description
Air Cargo Carriers (ACC) is in search of a Senior Accountant to bring a high level of organization and problem-solving capacity to the job. The successful candidate will execute wide-ranging accounting functions varying from accounting clerk level duties (i.e., account reconciliations) to senior accountant level duties (i.e., budgeting and policy development). ACC seeks, above all else, a work product that supports financial reports most accurately reflecting the organization's economic condition.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains a physical and digital workspace that is hyper-organized to ensure the timely provision of information and consistent application of departmental process.
- Utilizes all available organizational resources to locate, interpret, and extract applicable data to create routine journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and solve complex problems.
- Seeks an understanding of the organization's operations to ensure the accounting system accurately reflects those operational realities.
- Assists the Senior Accounting Manager in the development of departmental process and the implementation of developed policy.
- Identifies general problems or areas of improvement-with little direct oversight-and develops specific, targeted solutions for recommendation to the Senior Accounting Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to effectively identify complex causal relationships within the accounting process.
- Ability to leverage available resources and relationships within the organization to find answers to problems and develop concrete solutions.
- Ability to shift focus from high-level accounting tasks to granular clerk-type duties.
- Ability to collaborate with others, ask specific questions, and enumerate thoughts clearly.
- Knowledge of the accounting system, including-but not limited to-the major functional areas, normal balances, and reporting.
- Knowledge of accounting concepts such as accrual and matching principles, depreciation/amortization, revenue recognition, and job costing.
- Knowledge of the organization's operations and the ability to apply that knowledge to the organization's accounting processes.
- Skill in moderate to advanced computer operations relating to the Microsoft suite of products, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Skill in identifying irregularities within large data sets and resolving those irregularities to avoid flawed financial reporting.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting with a pronounced interest in internal and cost style accounting. Demonstratable experience working within the accounting system and mastery of accounting theory is required. Previous exposure to the aviation industry or other industrial settings is a plus.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to sit for long periods of time while performing manual and computerized clerical duties. The working conditions reflect that of a professional office environment.
Pay and Benefits
This position offers starting pay of thirty-three (33) to thirty-nine (39) dollars per hour, depending on experience. Paid holidays as well as vacation and sick time are offered in addition to employer-sponsored medical, dental, and vision insurance plans. An employer-sponsored 401(k) is also available.
