Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accuracy of the monthly financial statements, ensuring that all billings are accurate, works with others outside the accounting department to close the books, and manages the month-end close.

Responsibilities
  • Produces timely, accurate, and reliable financial statements and accompanying documentation. Drives efficiency and improvement within the month-end close process.
  • Performs financial statement analyses and alerts leadership when necessary. Includes account level variance analyses and accompanying account reconciliations.
  • Compiles schedules and support for external audits independently while adhering to deadlines.
  • Manages cash receipts ensuring accurate and timely allocation of client funds.
  • Identifies accounting or ad-hoc process issues and recommends solutions.
  • Prepares and submits all sales tax returns. Responds to all state correspondence.
  • Manages production process of the fixed asset subledgers
  • Develops, implements, and maintains systems, procedures, and policies for general ledger functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines
  • Other duties as necessary.


Requirements

  • Prior experience within a +100M mid-market company and accounting department required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite with expert knowledge of Excel is required. Relevant business management systems such as general ledger, HRIS, CRM, etc. is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Dynamics/Great Plains is desired.
  • Experience providing administrative support is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, problem solving and follow through required.
  • Effective communication skills required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • CPA preferred
  • Years of relevant experience: 4 to 5 required, 6-8 years is preferred.
  • Years of experience supervising: 1 to 2 years

  • Lift light objects [less than 20 pounds] and carry them short distances [20 feet or less] may be required when on-site.
