This position is a new role to help with the increase work load due to the ongoing increases of regulatory filings and FERC reviews.
Primary purpose of the position is to help maintain accurate accounting and ratemaking records with strong supporting documentation with minimal supervision for month-end close and regulatory filings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Degreed Candidates in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college and/or university
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Strong computer and systems skills
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills and oral and written communication skills
- Results oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with limited direct supervision and as part of a team
- Willingness to testify before the PUCO and IURC
SKILLS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- CPA's will be given preference
- Experience in an Electric Utility Accounting
- Experience with SAP accounting system
- Familiarity with the FERC Uniform System of Accounts as well as US utility industry accounting practices
POSITION SCOPE:
Primary purpose of the position is to help maintain accurate accounting and ratemaking records with strong supporting documentation with minimal supervision. In this position, the person will prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in adherence with company policies and control procedures. Functions include accounting for AES Ohio and/or AES Indiana rate adjustment mechanisms (trackers/riders) and preparing Excel schedules and updating written testimony to be included in ratemaking filings. The job interrelates with other groups within the Accounting Department and other departments within AES, such as Regulatory Affairs, Revenue Accounting and Financial Reporting. This position will coordinate both month-end and periodic activities and require some overtime primarily during periods of the accounting closing cycle or regulatory filings such as trackers/riders or base rate cases.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Records, classifies and summarizes financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, i.e. journal entries and reconciliation reports
- Plans, organizes and prioritizes work assignments to meet required deadlines
- Compiles, analyzes and reviews financial information in the preparation of reports, including schedules and testimony for ratemaking matters
- Develops, prepares, and reviews reports on a regular monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis to meet business needs
- Analyzes, reconciles and evaluates the accuracy of general ledger accounting details and ensures the amounts are proper and classified correctly
- Monitors and ensures compliance with AES policies, internal controls and corporate policies
- Identifies problems areas, evaluates their causes and proposes actions to resolve the problems
- Propose improvement to the existing processes
- Exceed the requirements of our internal and external customers
