Senior Accountant

As the Senior Accountant, you will be asked to wear both strategic and tactical hats. In this high visibility role, you’ll do a little bit of everything: payroll, accounts payable, audit preparedness, and month-end close, while acting as a resource and liaison to the business. Ultimately, you will drive efficiencies in the financial close, become a subject matter expert within the general accounting team, and reduce operational friction to help the business scale for future growth. The successful candidate is an Excel master, with an eye for detail and the drive to get it right. You have both the aptitude and attitude to approach novel and complex scenarios with aplomb.

Responsibilities:

• Perform timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
• Perform all payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
• Maintain and reconcile various general ledger accounts such as cash, prepaids, deposits, accruals, fixed assets and perform required journal entries and reversals
• Assist in month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities
• Assist senior accounting and finance leaders with the establishment, maintenance,
• and continuing improvement of accounting processes and procedures
• Respond to auditor request for deliverables, including process narratives and supporting documentation
• Respond to vendor invoice/payment inquiries and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner
• Review and process employee expense reports accurately and timely, and own the company’s Travel and Expense policy
• Perform ad-hoc projects as assigned
• Act as a resource for the business at large to resolve accounting issues as needed

Qualifications: 

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, with strong knowledge of theory, US GAAP, and practical application
• CPA or CPA candidate
• Payroll processing experience preferred
• Strong Excel spreadsheet and presentation preparation skills
• ERP experience a plus
• Demonstrated ability to build successful relationships with business partners and senior management
• Ability to think independently, synthesize data, and make proactive, succinct recommendations to business leaders based on findings
• A team player and self-motivated individual contributor
• Willingness to take on additional projects and multi-task with changing priorities, as necessary
• You have attention to detail, but can still see the big picture. You have a growth mindset and are passionate about continuous improvement.
