Senior Accountant
Summary
Morgan & Morgan is seeking a Senior Accountant in our Downtown Atlanta office who will monitor the financial health of Morgan & Morgan. This individual will assist with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization The Senior Accountant assists with preparations for audits and works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances. This individual will ensure compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations. This position reports to a Regional Controller and has contact with senior-level Attorneys and the firmโs Chief Financial Officer which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting including but not limited to the following:
- Developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
- Assist Financial Managers with budgeting.
- Oversee data entry and interpret accounting data to create and reconcile monthly, yearly, or quarterly budget.
- Ensuring all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles.
- Assist with billing and tax documentation preparation.
- Work with the company financial team to create internal controls and policies.
- Collaborate with the IT department to maintain financial records and system processes.
- Identify solutions to discrepancies in financial records.
- Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
- Responsible for calculation of bonuses, monthly financials, and monthly journal entries
- Addressing tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end preparation, bank reconciliation and the support of budget and forecast activities.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of proven working experience as Sr. Accountant, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor Finance Manager, or related position
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
- NetSuite experience a plus
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
- Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- CPA license preferred
