Job Description
Job Summary:
Responsible for the most complex activities associated with general ledger, financial and operating reports. This level requires broad knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, and includes the preparation of strategic recommendations. This role will be responsible for ensuring timely and proper accounting results for the business. Overseeing margin, balance sheet, and expenses.
Essential Job Functions:
- Accountability for month-end close processes and financial reporting for assigned companies in a consistent manner, in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the company's standard practices and policies
- Analyze financials and operating reports for completeness; make succinct and timely recommendations for P&L improvement
- Identify opportunities for improvement and automation, while taking action to remediate
- Responsible to meet all deadlines for estimates, period end financial reporting, and statutory reporting among others
- Assist in the timely preparation of reporting packages
- Assist with external audit engagements
- Serve as a liaison between finance and trading operations
- Ensure consistent compliance with internal controls, corporate accounting standards, GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley
- Ability to perform job duties with little management oversight
- Prepare ad-hoc reporting and participate in special projects on an as-needed basis
- Communicate with co-workers, management and company personnel in a courteous, timely and professional manner
- Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:
- Ability to work and interact well with others
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
- 5+ years of experience in a accounting-related field required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time
- Must display an attention to detail at all times
- Experience in commodity trading/merchandising industry a plus
- Must be able to work proficiently with Microsoft Office applications
Special Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time
- Position requires operation of a computer and other standard office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator, computer printer up to 90% of the time
- Frequently communicates with employees in the office and at remote locations
