Senior Accountant

Context for the role: 

Standard AI is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our accounting team and assist in the day to day accounting operations, support the month end close process, and help to develop efficient and scalable processes. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment, is detail-oriented, and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

This is a full time role and can be based remotely anywhere within the US on an ongoing basis. Standard AI is a remote first company. We want our employees to have the flexibility to create work habits, locations, and schedules that best fit their lives.

What you'll do here:

• Be responsible for sections of the general ledger, including performing monthly general ledger accounting close tasks and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and fluctuation analyses.
• Assist with financial statement audits, including the preparation of supporting reports and documentation as well as responding to questions from external auditors.
• Assist with process improvements around overall accounting processes, systems optimization, data integrity, timely close reporting, and financial accuracy.
• Partner with internal business partners to understand and accurately record spend and resolve accounting issues.

What you’ve done before:

• 4+ years of experience in accounting, preferably either in a startup environment or a mix of public accounting and industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting and understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
• Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple conflicting priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Experience with Netsuite is a plus.
