Caribou Biosciences is seeking a Senior Accountant. This newly created position will assist with the preparation of SEC filings as well as coordinating and monitoring SOX compliance. In addition, the Senior Accountant will participate in the monthly and quarterly accounting close processes and assist with various operational accounting activities on an as-needed basis. The role may be hybrid with occasional visits to the Companyโs offices in Berkeley, CA.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, self-motivated team player with a high level of integrity and a strong working knowledge of system processes, internal controls, US GAAP, and SEC and SOX regulations. The candidate should be comfortable working collaboratively in teams and independently and should excel when faced with new challenges and problems to solve.ย
Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K, in compliance with SEC Regulations and US GAAP
- Prepare and review supporting documentation and schedules supporting the financial statement and footnotes
- Coordinate closely with external auditors on technical accounting and SEC reporting matters and provide timely support for quarterly reviews and annual audit
- Monitor SOX compliance by ensuring key activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner
- Support the financial statement annual risk assessment and SOX testing with internal audit consultants
- Participate in monthly and quarterly close process, including accounting analysis for leases, fixed assets, and stock-based compensation
- Assist with operational accounting activities as needed (e.g., fixed assets, payroll reviews, etc.)
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in accounting, or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX requirements
- Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as analytical and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Workiva, NetSuite, and Coupa is highly preferred
- Big 4 accounting firm experience is highly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills required (pivot table, VLOOKUPs)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in managing tight deadlines with follow-through and minimal supervision
- A strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to changing responsibilities and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented, collaborative, flexible and willing to adapt to changing needs and timelines
Caribou compensation and benefits include:
- Salary Range: $115,000 to $150,000 per year. This represents the present low and high end of the Companyโs pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location, skill, experience, and performance.
