The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Finance organization with responsibility to manage activities of the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Cashflow for Pulsafeeder sites at Rochester NY and Punta Gorda FL. This role will also be supporting the Accounting & Finance function to prepare financial records, such as analysis, reconciliations, and monthly forecasts. This position requires excellent analytical and communication skills to be able to consolidate both sites accounts receivables and accounts payable function into OnePulsafeeder.
Essential Functions
- Cash and Credit Management
- Oversee and manage the daily cash application process to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare and present AR Past Due analysis during daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.
- Review and release credit holds daily, compliant with corporate guidance and with proactive communication across functions.
- Run and analyze credit reports for new customer set-up, credit limit increases, and annually to ensure that customer credit limits and payment terms are appropriate.
- Responsible for AR Aging analysis to drive bad debt and past due reduction including countermeasure analysis.
- Responsible for AP Aging analysis to ensure timely payments are made to all vendors in accordance with policy.
- Responsible for weekly and monthly AR forecasting.
- Reconcile cash received to the appropriate G/L accounts.
- Advise the Accounting Manager of potential write-offs (as required).
- Close (Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly)
- Assisting Accounting Manager in P&L Analytics and Monthly Working Capital forecasts
- Assist with coordination and compilation of data for additional reporting (and analysis) as required
- Prepare Monthly financial statement variation analysis
- Prepare month end reconciliations for all AR & AP accounts
- Prepare and record monthly journal entries for AR, AP, and revenue recognition.
- Internal Controls
- Maintain technical proficiency of general accounting policies and guidelines.
- Oversee and participate in on-going internal control documentation review and identify areas of improvement.
- Manages the audit process and serves as the local Audit Leader. Supports and coordinates all internal and external audit activity including Sarbanes Oxley.
- Assist with completion of various controllership deliverables, including but not limited to Balance Sheet Reviews, IDEX Key Control Questionnaires, and Segregation of Duties Reviews.
- Process Improvement
- Lead the AR function with customer obsession.
- Standardize AR processes across both business units.
- Identify and lead AR process improvement to increase efficiency.
- Partner with IT to develop and implement system enhancements to reduce complexity.
- Successfully partner and align with internal & external customers to drive AR enhancements.
- Monitor, analyze, & research process improvement opportunities.
- Deliver high quality of ad hoc analysis.
- Other projects as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA Certification strongly Preferred
EXPERIENCE
- 4+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing environment or similar work experience.
- Balance Sheet and Income Statement comprehension.
- Strong AR & AP background with ERP experience.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Principles (GAAP) and the ability to research and apply accounting pronouncements as appropriate.
- Strong understanding of Internal Controls and SOX compliance.
- Experience in preparing, analyzing, and implementing accounting and reporting requirements.
- Experience with PC and ERP system usage - JDE and OneStream preferred.
