Senior Accountant
Job Description
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant will provide full cycle accounting, from processing transactions to internal reporting. Duties include operational accounting transactions, financial reporting, audit support, tax compliance, risk management and budget. This position will support multiple business units within the Unmanned Systems division and have high visibility to business unit leadership.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures accounts payable are recorded accurately, coded properly, and paid timely.
- Prepares customer invoices and ensures accounts receivable are collected timely.
- Coordinates payroll processing timely.
- Reconciles bank account and prepares cash forecasts.
- Compiles and analyzes information, reports, and documents to prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepares financial statements for internal reporting within corporate processes and deadlines.
- Maintains and documents effective internal controls in accordance with Corporate and business unit policies.
- Maintains documented accounting policies and procedures with a focus on accuracy and process improvement.
- Maintains orderly accounting records and provides data to support audit requests.
- Provides cost data to support contracts and proposals.
- Performs ad hoc financial analysis to support investment decisions and contract pricing.
- Supports leadership in compiling forecasts and budgets.
- Reports financial results and variances from budgets to business unit leadership.
- Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) / Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) requirements.
- Completes local and state indirect tax filings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Attention to detail for a high volume of financial transactions.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Comfort working independently with limited guidance.
- Comfort working in different systems and supporting multiple business units.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for all levels of the organization.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Experience with Accounting Software; Deltek, CostPoint
- Experience with fixed Asset Management
- Experience with evaluating assets, capitalizing and disposals.
- Effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to think analytically and apply sound judgment and financial/accounting principles to work assignments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- May travel between company locations less than 25%
- Primarily works in an office environment with heavy computer use (keyboard, mouse) with some writing by hand.
- May work extended hours or weekends to meet deadlines.
