As our Senior Accountant, you’ll work as an integral part of the business. Boingo connects our users to the people and things they love – by building, owning and operating the highest quality wireless networks at a variety of venues around the country and across the globe. Our accounting team works hand-in-glove with the entire business in a dynamic, evolving industry (did you say 5G? Yep - we do that!). The Boingo accounting team has a strong track record of supporting professional growth and promoting from within. We work collaboratively with all the business units to support the business objectives. This is currently a hybrid role working in the office two days a week and remote three days a week.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close in compliance with the monthly close deadlines. Ensure all transactions are accounted for in accordance with US GAAP.
- Analyze and prepare journal entries for capitalized labor costs related to internally developed software and network construction costs, and record interdepartmental non-capitalized labor cost allocations.
- Review propriety of project costs that have been capitalized and analyze use tax.
- Process project and fixed asset additions, adjustments, cost transfers, disposals, and impairments.
- Review contracts and prepare customer invoices and revenue recognition schedules in accordance with ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
- Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries for revenues and cost accruals.
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations including analysis of account changes.
- Work closely with multiple departments to ensure all transactions are accounted for timely and in accordance with US GAAP.
- Complete audit requests and inquiries from external auditors and other third parties.
- Drive process improvements and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and policies and procedures to support the rapid growth and expansion of the company.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of progressive general accounting experience
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Detail oriented, proactive, with the ability to work well independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., vlookup, pivots tables, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or relevant accounting experience
Preferred
- CPA License
- Experience in telecommunications industry a plus
