Senior Accountant

Our Finance and Accounting Team plays a key role in preparing, managing, interpreting, and communicating the company’s financial information. We’re looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Accountant who can take a lead role in invoicing customers on time and accurately, ensure timely collections of those invoices, manage the AR aging report and be the point person for customer billing and invoicing troubleshooting.

This position reports to our Revenue Accounting Manager.

This is not a remote position.
The ideal candidate will need to be onsite & able to participate in hybrid work.

• Take ownership in month/year-end Revenue, Deferred Revenue and AR - related accounting close activities
• Play a key role in maintaining sales and use tax billing integration calculation drivers (ie addresses and exemption certificates), invoicing implications, and reporting requirements internally and externally to facilitate filings and compliance accordingly through Avalara
• Administering the quote to cash cycle including invoicing, invoice collections, communications, cash receipt deposits, applications, and reconciliations between systems
• Maintain and develop company policy and procedure memos and flow charts
• Serve as a point person for customer and internal cross-functional inquiries and requests around billing and collection issues
• Lead or assist in special projects as needed (e.g. audits, system implementation, etc.)
• Develop and adopt best practices for accounting and business processes
• Support collection forecasts, schedules and work with the collections team directly as needed. Attain all information pertaining to billing and manage the AR Aging report for daily billing and collection efforts.
• Assist other teams in the finance department with ad hoc projects and initiatives

• 4+ years of experience in order to cash responsibilities and general accounting in public accounting or at a technology company (SaaS experience preferred)
• Experience with revenue recognition bookkeeping and ASC 606 compliance
• Strong understanding of accounting systems and data structure, especially billing systems. Experience with Salesforce, Chargebee, Netsuite, Stripe or similar systems is essential.
• An undergraduate degree in Accounting
• CPA license or on the path to certification is preferred
• Customer billing and collections experience is highly preferred
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience developing account reconciliations and preparing or recommending journal entries to the general ledger
• Proficiency with Google Suite, macOS, and MS Office Suite with intermediate skills in Excel including VLOOKUP, if functions, pivot tables, etc.
• Ability to prioritize daily tasks to meet deadlines through open communication and collaboration in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment
