Senior Accountant

Role Summary:

The Senior Accountant supports the finance team in day-to-day operations and department-wide projects and is integral to the monthly close process, including reconciliations and journal entries. This role works independently in a fast-paced environment, has public company reporting experience and embraces a team mentality to support the entire organization. This role reports to the Corporate Controller or his/her designee.  

This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being a remote role. 

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Accounts payable process including payment runs and vendor communication
• Drive the monthly closing process and prepare account reconciliations
• Work cross functionally to track monthly accruals
• Analyze monthly variances across accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed
• Process payroll accurately and timely
• Own employee expense reporting and reimbursement
• General ledger / ERP implementation and maintenance
• Support quarterly reviews and annual audit process with external auditors
• Assist in establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles
• Support management and cross functional teams through ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special projects, and employee experience initiatives
• Work with various business providers to identify and implement appropriate software solutions for a high-growth company

 Education and Skill Requirements:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field is required
• CPA is preferred but not required
• Minimum of 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a public company environment - Life Science industry experience is strongly preferred
• Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX
• Highly detail-oriented and exceptionally organized; accountable to immediate team and internal stakeholders
• Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions and build key external relationships
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are mandatory
• Ability to manage and complete projects with time constraints
• Ability to successfully work independently and within a team environment
