Role Summary:
The Senior Accountant supports the finance team in day-to-day operations and department-wide projects and is integral to the monthly close process, including reconciliations and journal entries. This role works independently in a fast-paced environment, has public company reporting experience and embraces a team mentality to support the entire organization. This role reports to the Corporate Controller or his/her designee. Â
This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being a remote role.Â
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Accounts payable process including payment runs and vendor communication
- Drive the monthly closing process and prepare account reconciliations
- Work cross functionally to track monthly accruals
- Analyze monthly variances across accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed
- Process payroll accurately and timely
- Own employee expense reporting and reimbursement
- General ledger / ERP implementation and maintenance
- Support quarterly reviews and annual audit process with external auditors
- Assist in establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles
- Support management and cross functional teams through ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special projects, and employee experience initiatives
- Work with various business providers to identify and implement appropriate software solutions for a high-growth company
 Education and Skill Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field is required
- CPA is preferred but not required
- Minimum of 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a public company environment - Life Science industry experience is strongly preferred
- Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX
- Highly detail-oriented and exceptionally organized; accountable to immediate team and internal stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions and build key external relationships
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are mandatory
- Ability to manage and complete projects with time constraints
- Ability to successfully work independently and within a team environment
