Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is an integral part of our dynamic finance team. This professional is responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, and analyzing financial data. Additionally, they ensure compliance with tax regulations and aid in budget preparation and forecasting, contributing to the overall financial strategy of the organization.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
- Assist in the creation and management of budgets and forecasts in collaboration with various departments.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including the preparation and filing of tax returns and supporting documentation.
- Assist with both internal and external auditors' requests during financial audits, providing necessary information and aiding in the resolution of audit findings.
- Apply and uphold robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Stay current with industry best practices, relevant regulations, and emerging trends in accounting and finance to drive continuous improvement in financial processes.
- Support the finance team in ad hoc projects and analyses as needed.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is strongly preferred, experience will be considered.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with accounting software.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and potentially stressful environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
- Moves throughout the building to access files.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
