To help us achieve our ambitious mission, we are now searching for a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team and sit in our Boston office.
As Senior Accountant, you will ensure accurate and compliant revenue recognition for SOPHiA's DDM software revenue, physical goods revenue, and various other revenue streams. You will collaborate closely with members of the sales, accounting, and FP&A teams to draft and review contracts, ensure proper revenue recognition, and articulate financial implications. The ideal candidate will show an eagerness to learn, will be comfortable operating in a dynamic environment, and will develop the ability to clearly communicate accounting matters to audiences both within and outside of finance. This role will support the Head of Revenue Accounting with the responsibilities outlined below.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly revenue accounting schedules, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Work with legal and various sales teams to draft and review revenue-generating customer contracts for accounting considerations
- Contribute to development, rollout, and continuous improvement of procedures, processes, accounting memos, and internal control documentation
- Manage deliverables for annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors
- Test and implement new revenue recognition software
- Support integration of new revenue streams into existing processes
- Support ad hoc projects as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 2-4 years of experience in public accounting serving publicly traded clients or a mix of public accounting and public company work experience
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required
- Revenue recognition experience (IFRS15 or ASC606) preferred but not required
- Technology, SAAS, or healthcare experience preferred but not required
- Experience with SOX 404 and internal controls over financial reporting
- Project management including consistently establishing and meeting timelines
- Ability to learn and understand financial accounting systems/software
- Capable of working cross-functionally and managing multiple priorities
