Job Description

The Senior Accountant role is a corporate accounting and reporting role reporting to the Corporate Controller and plays a critical role in the Company's accounting team. The senior accountant is responsible for ensuring accounting records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to financial reporting, technical accounting, and general ledger accounting.This position provides assurance of accuracy and compliance with US GAAP. Familiarity with QuickBooks preferred, but not required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure timely reconciliation while maintaining supporting subledger documentation
  • Monitor, investigate, and resolve reconciling items, transaction errors, and other discrepancies
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly variance analyses and explanations for material fluctuations
  • Prepare support and documentation for external auditors
  • Assist in preparation of month-end reports and analysis for management and external distribution
  • Assist with the integration of acquired organizations, including ERP migrations
  • Provide planning and forecasting support as well as preparation of the consolidated financial plan.
  • Assist with ASC 606 revenue contract review and oversight of revenue recognition.
  • Assist in the research and documentation of technical accounting matters including purchase price accounting, goodwill, intangible assets and revenue recognition.

  • Utilize active listening and customer-care skills in identifying potential concerns
  • Answer internal and external communications timely and professionally

Core Competencies

  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact with employees and customers in a professional manner

Education and/or Experience

  • 2+ years accounting experience is required, prior public accounting experience preferred
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
  • CPA license preferred

Language Skills

  • Ability to communicate professionally, in English, both written and orally
  • Ability to write business correspondence and process procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public
