Senior Accountant

Position: Senior Accountant

Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite)

The Senior Accountant supports the Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting department, with particular emphasis on accounts payable, the general ledger, and assisting the Brokerage and Banking division.

• Prepare daily Morning Report
• Complete bank account reconciliations
• Maintain prepaid expense and fixed asset schedules
• Manage accounts payable/receivables cycle (invoice input, check issuance, file maintenance, vendor correspondence, research)
• Process weekly check runs
• Coordinate employee out-of-pocket expense process
• Reconcile firm credit card activity
• Assist with the reconciliation of certain monthly general ledger accounts
• Prepare various journal entries
• Guide and mentor junior level staff members and position yourself as the Subject Matter Expert on the team; Lead by example
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Five (5) or more years of accounting experience
• 1 or more years of guiding/mentoring staff accountants and other junior level team members
• Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Proficiency with accounting software (i.e. - Oracle/Sage/Great Plains/Hyperion/QuickBooks, etc)
• Detail and deadline oriented with excellent time management skills
• Ability to multi-task projects

NICE TO HAVES:

• Masters Degree a huge plus.
• 1 or more years of Broker Dealer experience highly preferred
• Experience within QuickBooks Accounting Software highly preferred
• Experience within YARDI Property Management Software a big plus
