As the Accounting Manager for the Franklin, TN location of SPX Aids to Navigation, you will be responsible for activities which support the financial and operational management of the company including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Additionally, you will be involved in the development of the company's financial forecast and analysis of the periodic financial results.

JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and providing financial analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders. This is a key role within our organization, and the Senior Accountant will play a vital part in driving financial success.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial statements.
- Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and other accounting transactions.
- Perform financial analysis, including variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and trend analysis.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain financial controls to safeguard company assets and enhance internal controls.
- Prepare and present financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and decision-making processes.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, providing guidance and recommendations.
- Conduct internal audits to identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in the implementation and enhancement of accounting systems and software.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA strongly preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience in public and/or manufacturing accounting; some public accounting experience preferred
- Demonstrates strong understanding US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley / internal controls
Skills & Abilities
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends accurately.
- Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP ERP is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- High level of integrity and ethics, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
