Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Atlanta, GA
Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility
The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the corporate controllers group. This role will interpret and apply complex accounting rules to a range of various accounting duties in support of the broader team. General duties will include ad-hoc projects, compiling and analyzing data, preparing or reviewing complex accounting schedules and journal entries, preparation of reporting and disclosure schedules, and working cross-functionally across the organization with teams around the world. This role is an excellent position in corporate accounting to learn the business, develop leadership skills, and access career advancement opportunities at NCR.
EXTERNAL REPORTING - Support the external reporting function and administer the external reporting process
- Assist with preparing the filing of the Company's external financial reports, including all 10-Q's, 10-K's and certain 8-K's filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC").
- Work in close cooperation with Legal and HR to prepare and file the Company's annual proxy statement.
- Support the Investor Relations function and ensure the accuracy of press releases, investor presentations and other materials that will be shared publicly, including preparation of press release exhibits and supporting schedules.
- Preparation of limited number of account reconciliations
Other Areas of Responsibility:
- Preparation of required journal entries
- Compilation and review of accounting schedules
- Performance of account reconciliations
- Partnering with internal business units and outsourced relationships to ensure accurate and timely financial results
- Responding to information and audit requests
- Research and recommendations on complex accounting transactions
- Responsible for ensuring relevant processes stay in compliance with all internal policies and SOX controls, including maintaining adequate documentation of control performance
- Perform continuous analysis to identify and implement process improvements, efficiency opportunities, and cost saving initiatives while ensuring process quality
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent concentration
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to read and understand accounting pronouncements and accounting guides
- 2 to 4 years of experience in public accounting firm (preferred) or corporate accounting at a public company
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a vigorous attention to detail
- Ability to self-direct and multitask in a dynamic environment
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
