Senior Accountant

Submittable is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team in Missoula, MT. In this role you will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and provides support in financial reporting, technical accounting, and compliance. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to our companies growth by improving and revising our accounting practices. 

This is a full-time position that will report to the Finance Controller.

Your responsibilities include:

• Support the Controller with compilation and review of month-end closing
  • Own the general ledger and associated entries
  • Perform month-end close duties
  • Maintain revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
  • Analyze financial data and create reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties and clearly communicate findings
• Perform and coordinate daily accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and payroll.
• Review junior accounting staff’s work
• Review and recommend improvements to accounting systems, procedures, and general efficiencies across the company
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns
• Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely annual audit process
• Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities
• Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

You will have these qualities and experience:

• BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
• 3+ years progressive work experience in an accounting role
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Experience with NetSuite
• Ability to research Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Advanced Excel skills and comfortable using Google sheets
• Experience reviewing staff work
