Senior Accountant at Sargent Logistics
Sargent Logistics is a rapidly growing transportation company with a robust fleet and a dedication to operational excellence. We are looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team and lead our financial operations.
Position Overview:
We seek a hands-on financial leader with extensive knowledge of logistics and transportation accounting. This role is ideal for someone experienced in collaborating closely with dispatch, safety, maintenance, and fuel management teams, linking operational activities to financial performance. If you have worked in a trucking company managing fleet costs, fuel tracking, driver settlements, and DOT compliance, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all accounting operations including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
• Lead monthly closings and prepare accurate, timely financial statements.
• Track and manage fuel costs, maintenance expenses, lease agreements, and asset depreciation.
• Monitor cash flow and provide financial insights for equipment purchases and capital investments.
• Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, IRS, and other relevant financial regulations.
• Coordinate with operations and dispatch teams to align financial tracking with daily logistics.
• Recommend and implement accounting software/process improvements scalable with fleet growth.
Requirements:
• Prior experience in a trucking or logistics company (required).
• Strong understanding of industry-specific cost structures and compliance standards.
• 2+ years of accounting or financial management experience.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, dispatch, and compliance teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or similar (CPA a plus, but not required).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a process-driven mindset.
• Fluency in Eastern European languages is a plus due to our internal team and client base.
